Featured Experience
Undergraduate Researcher @ LSDO Lab
First Author of Efficient Optimization of Dynamic Systems using the Adjoint Method published via AIAA SCITECH 2023 Forum.
Constructed a framework in Python which is applicable to solve any general differential algebraic equation (DAE) system. For example, aircraft wings can be represented as nonlinear beam elements. The system can also be derived from any ODEs.
This research is part of the University Leadership Initiative (ULI) project sponsored by NASA.
eVTOL Air Taxi Design
This eVTOL aircraft is designed with hybrid tiltrotors for intracity commute which is able to carry 1 pilot and 3 passengers at a time.
The iterative design includes sizing, propulsion, aerodynamics, stability, structure, and cost analysis. The design is by accordance to FAA regulations.
RC Aircraft
Gained basic understanding of conventional RC Aircraft design. Built and tested the RC Aircraft.
Simulated and operated the aircraft in an RC Aircraft Simulator.
Gained experience of elevators and flaperons authority during test flight with empty payload. Redesigned and successfully took off and landed with a payload weight fraction at 15.6%.
President @ Triton Robotics
I worked as the president running operation of the team including project management, recruitment, event planning, promotion, finance, and public relation. During this year, we successfully raised funding over $10,000 and expanded the team from 4 ground robot projects to 7 projects including both ground and aerial robots.
During this process, I was exposed to various engineering disciplines including mechanical, embedded, electronics, and computer vision. I also participated in mechanical design and inspection, and developed the design procedures.
Assistant Engineer Intern @ Desay SV
Worked on processing data collected by ultrsonic radars for ADAS. Researched on the track of sound waves and experimented the data with existing proposed theory.
Built linear regression model in MATLAB to process and observe the traits of data.
Researched on Miquel’s theorem to improve the accuracy of obstable detection.
Composed report and presented research result.
Autonomous RC Car
Built and coded an 1/6 RC Car on Jetson Nano board.
Applied Tensorflow and OpenCV libraries in Python. Calibrated the camera and cloud computed the collected data on GPU Cluster for autonomous driving. The car was able to complete three laps in a roll.
Developed a ROS2 communication system in Python with two RC Cars. Set up talker node and listener node for sending IMU data from the leading car to the following car to avoid tailgating.
Wind Tunnel
Mesured pressure data from Pitot tubes of the Clark Y-14 airfoil in a wind tunnel at various air speeds and angles of attack. Computed the center of pressure and qualified the coefficients of lift, drag, and moment.
Collected data of the wake and observe the dynamics pressure downstream from the airfoil.
Gyroscope Control
Investigated the design and implementation of PID control for gyroscope to create a stabilized feedback system to accurately position mass/inertia at a specified location and time.
Tuned the controller gains iteratively to reduce steady-state error, overshoot and rise time.
Vibration Analysis
Measured the frequency response of a scaled three-story flexible structure and a helicopter blade using a digital scope and network analyzer.
Modeled the frequency response as a transfer function. Calculated and compared anti-resonance and resonance modes to finite element analysis (FEA) modeled resonance modes respectively.
Full Experience
Joystick LED Indicator
Wired and coded the LED light indicator for the joystick by indicating the longitudinal movement via fliker rate and lateral movement via five LED lights.
LCD thermometer and hygrometer
Wired and coded a thermo and humidity sensor with an LCD screen to display the current temperature and humidity of the environment.
Autonomous Fan
Wired and coded an autonomous fan with ultrasomic sensor which increases rotation speed with increasing distance. Equipped a keypad for password lock.
MAE 2 Tutor
Assisted students during lab hours in building and launching paper rockets and manufacturing of rotor propeller.
